Post  Graduate  Department of  Travel & Tourism Administration

The Department was upgraded to a Post Graduate department by starting Master of Tourism Administration (MTA) for the first time in Calicut University in the year 2005-06. MTA Course offers study of different core areas like Computerized Reservation system (CRS)- Galileo, Accounting Packages, foreign language, Air cargo management etc. The multi purpose computer cum language lab offers facilities for students to achieve expertise in communicative English, Foreign language, Tally software, CRS etc. A happy assimilation of theoretical  and practical knowledge through on the job training is  another important aspect. Tourism Forum of students conducts seminars and other innovative programmes frequently. The Two  year’s intensive study programme enables the students to have practical and theoretical knowledge on the various aspects of the Travel and Tourism Industry. On completion  of the Course the students are empowered to take up any job in the Travel and Tourism industry. The course provides opportunity for invited talks by  eminent faculties from different Universities and various sectors  of the industry. The compulsory National / International study tour is a great opportunity for the students to have a life time experience of visiting various destinations. The course  provides job opportunities for the students in Air lines, Star hotels, Tour operating companies, Air ticketing agencies, Air ports, Shipping companies, Travel agencies, Event management companies,  Teaching careers in Universities, Hr.Secondary schools and Colleges, etc. The sanctioned strength for MTA is 20.

Eligibility and Admission Procedures

A bachelor’s degree of any discipline from a recognized university with minimum of 45 % of marks in part III subject

Selection will be based on the marks in qualifying examination, written test, interview and group discussion

Five marks will be added to the index marks for B. com/BBA/BBM/BBS graduates and ten marks for graduates of BA Travel and Tourism Management.
